Fractions

This batik quilt (left) is "Fractions" by Mountainpeek Creations. A friend of mine bought the pattern and made the quilt (below) for her granddaughter. It looked nothing at all like the pattern; she intentionally obscured the lighter, sashing area and made hers a color-riot of pinks, reds, violets and yellows. I had to search hers to find and identify the block construction. Each "Fraction" block is comprised of four "bricks" and four "sticks", with a rotated setting. It's a great landing place for accumulated scraps and it sews up quickly and efficiently. I'm into stash reduction these days! I love the simplicity and versatility of this pattern and am considering using it in a variety of ways. These are sub-units pictured, each containing four blocks:
1. Colorful and scrappy, as an over-all stash-reducer...

2. Kid- friendly, with novelties...

3. "Scrappy/Charmer" ( a place to showcase and combine accumulated "Charms", with a more controlled palette; in a non-conventional, rule-bending, way)...

Take a look at your simplest patterns in a whole new light.
How many ways can you adapt them to work for you?

Life is Good!

Perhaps an excellent format for one of your famous "learning quilts".....

We were looking at Rebecca's learning quilt one day last week, and she said, "Daddy! I already know all of those..."

So I think it's safe to say we've gotten lots of use out of it, but to keep warm, and to keep mentally sharp!

Thanks!

Wow the fabrics do change the pattern. I will add this pattern to my list. I too want easy patterns to reduce my stash.
