Surprise Visitors

Some things only last for a short time and are enjoyed expressly because of their fleeting nature: a clean house, a well prepared meal, a bright blue cloudless sky. I had surprise visitors yesterday morning at the feeder, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, a pair of them! Their stay will be oh-so brief. Each spring these birds stop by here along their migration route to the mountains, where they spend the Summer months. Their appearance is magical, they're gone almost as soon as they arrive and I feel privileged to bear witness to their presence. Eat up little ones, stay as long as you can, gather strength for your journey ahead! I'll be eagerly awaiting your return next Spring.

Update: this morning I found four males vying for position at the feeder (one was on a nearby tree branch, just out of frame). I shot this through the window... awesome, huh?Life is Good!

Oh how fortunate you are! They are beautiful! I haven't had the pleasure of one at my feeders...maybe someday, tho. :) I do so enjoy all of nature...if you could see my house you would know that I've definitely been outside 'communing with nature'! LOL

Each time you leave a comment at my blog I try and e-mail you back, and then feel so rejected by the "no reply blogger". Have you thought about opening a free email acct just for your blogging friends? I didn't have an email address listed in the beginning, but it drove everyone nuts, so I finally relented. Haven't had a problem-knock on forehead. I like your birdies!

I know nothing about birds, so would have no idea what birds, if any, migrate through here. These are beautiful birds, so glad you got a picture to remember them by until they stop by on their way back home.

I love to see any birds... except the Mynah birds here, they are just pests.

I really enjoy my bird/squirrel feeder too! When I am in my city apartment in Austria I really miss having one. What fun visitors you have had - my visitor today was a male/female pheasant - the male waking me up with his loud voice so early in the morning!

Cheers!
