Destined To Be A Quilter

I remember requesting this ice cream for my 12th birthday, there was just something about the way the little squares of color lined up and danced across the frozen surface. My mother bought a half-gallon and folded down the carton's sides so that she could slice the ice cream into bricks and not disturb the design. Perfection! Sealtest Checkerboard Ice Cream, part of my past... forming my future? What do you think?

Life is Good!

How well I remember the "checkerboard " icecream, used to be a favorite of mine. But then almost all flavors of ice cream is a favorite(except Chocolate) i don't care much for anything chocolate. Except Reeses Peanut Butter Cups!!!!!! Did you know that Baskin Robbins has RPBC icecream? Am I in heaven,or WHAT????
Won't see you next week at BOM, will be on my way to Vagas.

Checkerboard ice cream - so wonderful on so many levels. Multiple flavors and where else do you get a 'slice' of such delicious frozen goodness? Memory Lane - it's the best street in town *s*

I used to love that ice cream myself! I had no idea it was a precursor to my quilting addiction! Mmmmm, I'd love to have some today!

Just chiming in with the others to say hello and I too remember...*s* Thank you for being so faithful at visiting my blog. I've had a couple of 'blog pals' let me know they miss my quilty posts but I'm just so enjoying being outside right now. I'm glad that you enjoy my birdy pictures. :) Every day I make the rounds of my blog friends but often don't take the time to stop in and say 'hi'. I'll be back soon tho! :D

I don't think we had checkerboard ice cream down under, you must have really liked the idea of all those little squares joining up even back then.
What great memories.

I don't think I've ever seen checkerboard ice cream. I guess I've had a deprived childhood. :( Our neopolitan icecream just comes with three rows - no checkerboard.

I remember loving this icecream as a child. Once, when it was my turn to pick the icecream, I asked to this and my Dad came home with the type that was vanilla, orange sherbert, and coffee. I remember him and my sister slicing the icecream and rearrange the slices so I could have my checkerboard...I must have been a real pain as a child!

We used to be able to get Battenburg cake, which was a kind of checkerboard sponge with jam in between and rolled with almond icing. when slice the pieces looked very much like your icecream, but only 4 little squares. No one seems to make it now.

Just found your blog today. Love this post. I had a checkerboard birthday cake once - I think my mom still has the special pans!! Must have been another quilting 'sign'.
