A Toast To Friendship...

... a friendship that's lasted through the ages. (Or at least since we were twelve years old!) This is my longest friend, we refuse to say oldest! (Note: dress, flowers, lipstick and martini all match!) She and I met in seventh grade and have remained friends ever since. We've seen each other through many of life's milestones... (she was a bridesmaid in our wedding 32+ years ago) she stood by when our daughter was married in 2004 and, naturally, we were on hand a week ago to witness her daughter's wedding as well! She and I weathered the storms of high school side by side, her dad nicknamed us Mutt and Jeff; and later on, from that same high school, we each married our best friend. We have giggled and cried together through life's ups and downs, we've shared secrets and hearbreak; we saw each other through childbirth and motherhood and all vacationed together at Disney World when our children were young. That's what came to mind for me when the front doors of the church opened last Saturday to reveal her lovely daughter, a beautiful bride, on the arm of her daddy, about to walk down the aisle to her groom and into married life of her own. I remembered a little girl, six years of age, playing dress-up at our home, and wanting so desperately to be as 'grown up' as our twelve year old daughter was back then! Where has the time gone? For my longest friend and I it has stood still... yes, life has happened, milestones have been observed and changes have occurred to be sure; but we pick right up where we left off. Many miles have separated us all of our adult lives, that doesn't matter. She and I are connected, we grew up together, we know each other's hearts and we share the same faith. That's what friendship is all about; I am deeply and forever grateful for this one!

The beautiful bride (and groom), all grown up, on her wedding day!
Life is Good!

Cheers!

How would we have known, so many years ago, that our friendship would last and last? It is one of God's greatest blessings! I'm looking forward to the many more years ahead of us to share in life's joys.

Now, what you didn't mentioned is that my toenail polish also matched!! ;-)

Love and Hugs, Longest Friend!
