Fabric Hideaways

I found this piece of fabric while vacationing this summer. I had to buy a piece for myself and a piece for a friend... it's a challenge to see what she'll do with it! (I don't have any idea what I'll do with mine... yet!) You may know that I have a strong affection for novelties anyway, but a novelty that displays all the creative places to hide one's stash just had to come home with me! Don't ya just love it? Any ideas on how it might best be showcased? Now that my Studio is clean and tidy enough for a group tour and my closet is completely organized I'm ready to start planning the next project! The motif squares each measure 4", I was thinking they'd make darling block centers surrounded by bright logs; possibly quilted for a journal cover or even cut apart and fused to the fronts of note cards. How would you use this piece?

Ha ha! I like the one with the stash in the dog house! Maybe this is your chance to do some wonky words to go along with it?

I met a dapple wirehaired dachsund pup while camping and it was cute, but not as soft as the regular ones. I'll bet Hannes is extra super soft.

Oh my when did I get red hair???

Just a simple wall quilt may be cute.

I dont know how I would use it...but I must say, it gave me a good laugh! I love the GOM, sitting on the lounge, seeminly unaware he is on a tilt!!

I have a half a dozen panels that I take out a couple times a year and wonder what to do with...I'm no help at all am I?!

I did make one with nurses on it for my PT using the panel pieces as the center or a large log cabin...it made up to a lap quilt very quickly that way. (I've also seen them used as the outside pocket on a totebag...)

I'd give it to my friend Sue who actually removed her spare tire so she could store fabric in its well one time when she was on a road trip!

That fabric is absolutely hilarious! Love, love love it!! I like the log cabin idea that YankeeQuilter suggested. :> And can't you just see all of us 'stashers' flinging out our spare tires so we have more room in the trunk of the car...thanks, Nancy, I hadn't thought of that one...yet!! ROFLLLLLL

The first thought that popped into my head was to separate each image, and make a "mini-quilt" with each, kind of like a placemat, but perhaps even smaller (can't tell how big the images are, maybe they're too small for this, but then there's always the option of a wide border).

Then display each mini-quilt at various spots throughout the house, in the same way the stash in the images are spread throughout.

A little symbolism of the way quilting enters all facets of your life, and a fun little sociology experiment to see if anyone ever notices the theme scattered throughout the home.

Oh my, that fabric is FUN! I have the same problems with my own "gotta have" panels... but I'm positive you'll come up with a perfect project :)

I love it. I need to know when they brought the camara into my house to do the photo shoot to base this panel on, lol. I think every quilter can relate! I love the panels. I just took a kids cloth book and cut it part and framed it up and it turned out really cute. I liked the idea you had about making it a journal cover. This way you could share with all your quilty friends...

You know, I think I would have to make a BIG totebag so I could carry my newly purchased fabric.

I used to hear the funniest stories from my quilting students about how they hid fabric from their husbands.

I love the blocks -- what about a wall quilt with some wonky letters about so much fabric, not enough places to hide? It would look adorable in your quilt room!
