Honey Crisp Apples

We're back from Michigan, with our car trunk filled full of Honey Crisp apples to share with family and friends! This might be the best apple I've ever tasted, we learned about them while visiting a winery owned by Madonna's father (yes, THAT Madonna!) in Leland, MI last Sunday. The weather along the 45th parallel is perfect for growing this apple, that's what we were told... and it is certainly one perfect apple grown there; sweet, tart, and crisp all at the same time! We had great adventures while we were away, even some quilt-y ones! Stay tuned...

It sure will be good to sleep in our own bed tonight, Hannes agrees, he's happy that we're home too!

Life is Good!

It's that cold weather that makes the apples so crisp. Those apples are a buck a piece in the stores here! I hope you are getting a better price! Have fun!

Nothing like a fresh, crisp apple! My favorites are just after the 1st frost. Welcome home, glad to hear you had a good trip!

Cheers!

My favourite part of Autumn is the fresh apples. I've never heard of Honey Crisp - you will have to let us know all about how they are - but then what if they are really good and we can't get them in the west :((

We have honey crisp apples in Washington too and they are definately a treat. Last week we bought some apples to make cider - great stuff.

I like the Honey crisp but I LOVE fresh Romes! They are difficult to find though. The local orchard in Canton, MI grows the HC aples. They also have the BEST cider of anywhere I've ever had. I am glad you are home sefely.

Welcome home! I was worried about you with all the reports of bad weather out there. Happy to know you had a great trip, and you're back in time to cheer on the Sox in game 7! ;-)

Welcome back. I have a hard time remembering the different varieties of applles, but those do look good. I'll have to see if our grocery store sells them.

Honey Crisps have finally arrived in Arizona. Get this, they are $2.99/pound!!!!! I still eat them, even tho I pay less for GAS!!

Lived for 20 some-odd years in Michigan, you're making me homesick!

Glad you enjoyed my home state.

Honey Crisps are my family's favorite and I pay the price while they are in season. I'm in Illinois and can get them at the grocery or a farmer's market. The only thing I've noticed is that they tend to bruise easily so I'm careful with them getting them home, washed and into the fruit basket.
