Holiday Hustle

Thanksgiving is over; the holiday hustle has begun! I have gift ideas ready for friends and family, this will involve some sewing time... I guess I'd get nothing done without deadlines and self-imposed demands, I'd better kick it up into high gear before any more time flies!
Of course, my personal thermostat has decided to go on the fritz NOW, of all times. Yikes! For someone who has been cold her entire life, this is definitely going to take some getting used to!

We had ten for dinner yesterday, a very traditional menu. I warmed up some Apple Ice Box wine in the crock pot with some diced Honey Crisp apples and cinnamon sticks, delicious! We purchased the wine on our recent trip to Michigan, especially for Thanksgiving; we weren't disappointed. As always, our annual Turkey-day puzzle has made an appearance... this year it's another Michigan find: a 1000 piece Mackinac Island jigsaw beauty! We put the puzzle out on Thursday morning and it stays in place on the kitchen table until it's completed. My mother got an early start yesterday while I peeled a few potatoes. We'll eat in the dining room in the meantime, it's something that we don't do nearly often enough and provides an entirely new and different perspective. I was surprised that Turbo didn't knock any puzzle pieces on the floor during the night. Silly kitty did carry a small zip-loc bag of fabric pieces to the family room, though!

Enjoy this holiday weekend, check in when you can.
My MIL continues to improve, we're all counting our blessings.Life is Good!
...unless you're a turkey...

Glad you had such a wonderful Thanksgiving. I've got my list of Christmas presents/projects to get done as well -- now to just get it organized so that they will get done!

Your posts always make me feel so warm. Your Mom looks wonderful! A hug for her from me. :-) I love your jigsaw puzzle tradition, and isn't it these little rituals that make our lives so special? Our Thanksgiving Day was very quiet, just five of us, but a nice change of pace from our usual Thanksgiving. Now to turn my sights toward Christmas with eager anticipation. Some shopping is done, but more important right now is finding the perfect recipes for my Christmas luncheon on the 14th. Ideas?

Love you!

Nice post. Sincerely hope the fritz in the thermostat was not 'the real thing'.
I cannot believe I am still suffering at 54!!
Love the pic of your mother with the jigsaw- we used to do so many!
I hope your Thanksgiving was all you would wish, for you & yours!!

Sounds like the perfect day. Cheer up about the temp. At least you will be comfortable in the cold weather. Mine started to change a year ago! I'm still working on it. We had a new addition to the table in the form of our new puppy! She is adorable but will take some getting used to in this 5 cat household!!

So glad to hear your Mom is doing better. Your photos make me a bit homesick even though I participated in three Thanksgiving celebrations this week!

I'm glad you had a good thanksgiving. The wine sounds great! The jigsaw puzzle idea is a great one. I need to clean up some more to make some room for a puzzle though!

Jigsaw puzzles -- one of my favorite things to do, and one that I so rarely set aside time for. I miss them...your post has reminded me, and thanks. Happy Thanksgiving, belated.
