The Nutcracker

The Nutcracker is being performed downtown, I went yesterday afternoon with our daughter and my MIL. A local holiday tradition, it was enchanting, as always. Our daughter bought her grandmother's ticket and presented it to her for her birthday, two months ago, before she became sick. Yesterday was one of Mom's first outings since returning home from the hospital, and I daresay it was worth every bit of effort for her to attend. It was a very special day for the three of us, we had great seats on the main level and enjoyed every bit of the music presented by the Symphony Orchestra and the performance of the incredibly talented dancers. Bravo!

There were a great number of little girls in attendance, (aspiring ballerinas?), clutching their Grandma's hand and showing off this year's beautiful Christmas dress as they snuggled down into their theater seat to experience the magic of the Nutcracker for perhaps the first time. It wasn't that long ago that her Grandma made that very same dream come true for a little girl that I know, or was it? It was my honor yesterday to sit beside the lovely, smart woman that our daughter has become, I am deeply proud of her. It was my privilege to witness this woman who, with grace and wisdom, brought a precious dream full circle. That's worth a standing ovation!

Life is Good!

It's a gift in itself to see what wonderful people our children become. Hat's off to you! This (Nutcracker ballet)is a tradition I tried to establish but TheKid told me after the first time he wouldn't go again. So I went with Auntie to the Denver Ballet to see it until she became too frail.
