Wasting Time In The Sock Drawer Jumble

It all started innocently enough. I was almost ready to leave the house for Quilt Ministry yesterday morning, I'd allowed exactly enough time. I thought my "Quilting Girl" socks would perfectly complement my chosen outfit for the day. I pulled open up my sock drawer and found ONE of the socks immediately. Where in the world could the mate be lurking? Somewhere deep in the sock drawer jumble, but where? I rifled through the contents of the drawer again, and again, and again! No match. I took the drawer from the dresser and placed it up on the bed. I wasted precious minutes digging and searching but I was determined, now, to find the sock; regardless of time! Puppy dog-themed socks, argyles, nobby knits, marled colors, smooth and silky trouser socks, thick and warm ski socks, sport socks and even a pair of long forgotten slipper socks passed through my searching fingers. Finally, the identical match "Quilting Girl" sock surfaced, as if by magic, from the depths of the drawer. My husband keeps a neat and tidy sock drawer; he's always dressed, ready and waiting in moments. I can't justify wasting six minutes searching for a sock; I can't justify wasting time, period! My drawer now rivals my husband's. This morning I spent the longest time just gazing upon the well organized fruits of my labor; socks neatly lined up, two by two, like animals on Noah's Ark. Oh, no...

What have I done?
Life is Good!

Organization is always good. I wonder though how long it will take before it gets back to being the way it was.

By the way I have a bag full of socks without mates in the basement, just in case one of your wandered down there...

I was raised by a serial sock matcher, my mom *s* Hubby came from the other side of the sock drawer tracks - often wearing unmatched socks. He might still be that way to this day . . . but I just can't let it happen. I'm glad you found the mate.

No Dr reports yet, will let you know, BUT..........About socks...
I have always been a sock neat freak, have to be just so-so. When DD was growing up, she was responsible for mating and "folding" socks and hated it.... Fast forward, now married DD .. Had been in hospital sick, and her SIL done her laundry, I went to her house as soon as she got home, and there she sat, on the bed, untying the socks her SIL had mated and tied together and folding them. I absolutely loved that, wish I had had a camera... I'm afraid I made sock freaks out of both our kids and hubby also. He keeps a very neat sock drawer. MINE, well, not like days of old, but still passable!!! Have a good day...

MY, my. my. I thought I was the only person with an unorganized sock drawer. Glad to know I was not alone. (Until now.)

Well, at least you found it in the end! You should put your skiing socks with your ski boots! I like things organized and so does my DH and Little Boy. Everything has a place - makes it so much easier to put things away! Oh - and the fact that I keep our clothing to the minimal!

Cheers!

Hehehehe -- organization is good. But, um, yeah, it's good. I really do need to do some of that myself -- but, well, I'd so much rather be playing with fabrics and fibres!

I'm having a hard time envisioning Mrs. G having an area that is NOT organized!
