How's Your Spelling?

I took this quiz online, you can click on the link
"How's Your Spelling" below to try it for yourself. I won a spelling bee in the sixth grade. I remember it was down to only me and Johnny Mulcahy, the event was held on the stage in the 'cafetorium' (multi-purpose rooms, with names to match, were a fresh concept for schools built in the sixties). It was my first time to use a microphone, what a funny thing to remember.
The winning word? "Lieutenant"!

Life is Good!

34. Every night before bed, think of one thing you're grateful for that you've never been grateful for before. GOD HAS A WAY OF TURNING THINGS AROUND FOR YOU.

Your Spelling is Perfect

You got 10/10 correct.

Your spelling is excellent. You also have a great
memory and eye for detail.

How coincidental! I won in 5th grade against Lewis Oppenheimer and the word was "people." He couldn't spell "police." I had the flu in 6th which was a shame because that was the grade where the winner got to go to the next level.

Thanks for the memory!

One of the most delightful productions I have ever seen is "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee". If you've never seen it, keep a look out -- it's funny and touching.

I was horrible in 6th grade spelling and Mr. Jones gave me lots of words to practice at home. Guess it must have worked....I got a 10/10 too. :-)

Poor Johnny must have been devastated when you beat him. The two of you lead very different lives now....but I dare say he's probably has more experience with microphones now than you do.

PS: wouldn't it be embarrassing to spell something wrong on this particular post's comments? ;-)

Funny you should post about spelling, since the local news has been all over the teenagers using txtmessaging abbreviations in formal school writing papers. Not a good thing.
