Onward And Upward

I've loaded my third quilt top, Kaleidoscope Stars, onto Sundance; thanks to the the gracious help of none other than Bonnie of Quiltville. She made a house call and I'm enormously grateful! Actually, Bonnie visited our Bee meeting last night here at Chez Goodneedle, she delighted us with a fabulous show and tell and, believe it or not; settled down to do some hand quilting before the evening was over! Just as there are a myriad of ways to do anything in the quilting world, there are alternative methods to loading a quilt onto a longarm as well. I had been following the DVD instructions that came with the machine and found some of the steps difficult to manage and hard to understand. Bonnie's method makes sense to me. She called this the 'half-float' method. Naturally, having a real, live, person to talk with and answer my questions doesn't hurt either! I know now that I had been tightening everything way too much. Wish me luck, here I go again; onward and (hopefully) upward. Now: what to quilt? To mark or not to mark? What thread to use, and in which colors? Hmmm...

Life is Good!

16. Get enough rest.

Nothing like a one on one lesson to really clear things up *s* I know I always do better with visuals.

I agree that it really helps to have someone there live helping you. There may be some basic overall thing that I tend to miss, and having someone there, they could easily clear it up. If you keep up your progress, you are going to run out of flimsies to quilt - and then you will be begging us for ours!

Looks like you're getting along well with Sundance and getting some projects going. I like the term "embellishments" for the learning curve work :0). I hope you're having fun with this whole process :0).

I can see why Turbo thought you had bought him a great new hammock! It would be good sleeping on a quilt as long as Sundance is unplugged!!

Unquestionably one of the high points! Having "hands on, face-to-face" help can't be beat. Except with eggs, butter, milk, sugar, Vanilla extract...oh wait that's another post!

Silly *karendianne.

Hooray for Bonnie! How wonderful to have help! Onward and upward - I am truly enjoying your journey. It is one I hope to take someday.

Yes, having a real live teacher who can show you and answer your questions is a Godsend! And to have Bonnie! God just sent you the best!
