Nosedive

The temperatures took a distinct nosedive while we were gone. I didn't plant any fall flowers before we left, but now with the crisp, cool days I'm ready! I bought some pansies today, and a big, orange pumpkin for the front steps. (It seems I'm late for mums, gotta keep looking.) When my husband and I stepped out for our pre-dawn fitness walk this morning the thermometer registered 37 degrees farenheit, that's exactly twenty degrees lower than our last walk on Thursday, the 9th! Brrr. My husband has decided that in an effort to become more energy efficient we should add more insulation up in the attic. This is just a portion of what he's hauled home in several trips to the home improvement store... 'tis the season!

Looks like you had a great trip! I love fall too. Doesn't it seem like it was just summer weather a few days ago? Oh wait I think it was! Your photo of the pansies and pumpkin is wonderful!

At least the pumpkins won't rot before Halloween with the cooler days! I love Fall.

We have a chimney sweep coming next week for our last winterizing chore. The pumpkins around here all look like ogres. We got too much damaging hail early in the growing season when the pumpkins were soft so there are some really strange looking pumpkins with dents and creases.

How nice to have chill in the air. The photo of the pansies with the pumpkin...very pretty!

MIL went looking for her mums on Friday and found most were gone here, too... I love some parts of fall (including pansies, red leaves, crisp air, fresh apples, babies in Halloween costumes, and mincemeat pie) but struggle with the decreasing hours of sunlight. But, all things must rest in order to burst forth again in the spring (my favorite).

It's a nice time of the year to be working in the attic, too--not so hot!

I didn't get mums this year, but yes to pansies, and oh, my, YES to pumpkins! I typically carve 15-20 jack-o-lanterns each Halloween, so I have more to buy, but they look so festive for those few days.

I keep hoping the weather will turn here . . . *ha* I so want to do some fall/winter planting. The forecast for tomorrow is 80! Not going to happen this week. I'll live vicariously through you *s*

It's getting cooler here too and the evenings come upon us much quicker. Every winter I tell my husband that I don't think our house even HAS insulation (I don't know that of course but it is cold enough). I don't think either of us has ever been up in the attic to check even. Hope you stay warm this winter!

I hear you about the chilly weather! The past few mornings here have been below 40 - brrrrrrr! It's one of the reasons I love this time of year. Love the photo of the pansies and pumpkin - so pretty!

I wish Gom would get some Batts in our Belfry! The more batts we could get up there, the better they would be to keep heat in winter, & keep OUT the heat of summer!!
