Cold Hands, Warm Heart...

I'm not making resolutions for this new year, for me that's an exercise in futility. I'm making a vow instead, to reach out more; to live with an open heart... every day. I spent last evening stitching mittens and as I stitched, the words from a poem spoken at a funeral that I attended on New Year's Eve replayed in my head and seeped into my soul. "Something Worth Leaving Behind" is about making a difference in someone else's life, about loving another person and investing yourself in that person. That's the kind of legacy I want to leave, one of a life lived with an open heart! There's no day like today to start. Cold Hands? Maybe. Warm heart? Absolutely... with God's help.

I love the bookcases...I will forward the link to my Dad so he can "be inspired" I think a quilt case should be next on the list! Mason looks tickled with both his gifts from his grandparents.

For with God nothing is impossible. I believe you will leave a legacy where people were glad they knew you and know you now.

Hppy 2009 to you & yours!
That is a great philosophy for the coming year. I never make resolutions, just try to live with an open heart, & love all I can.

What a great post . . . . I don't much care for resolution making either. I just set myself up for disappointment. Your outlook is far more uplifting. Thank you for sharing *s*

Look at those little mittens! They remind me of retreat.

This weekend at the beach, I opened my featherweight and found in the top, the little piece of Shelby doggie fabric you gave me. It reminded me of you and your giving heart. Know that your friendship always warms my heart.

"something worth leaving behind"
those words so speak to me. a mother of 2 (almsost 3) teenagers and all of the ups and downs especially durning the holiday break, you sometimes wonder if you will have something worth leaving behind. But my trust in the Lord, leads me to your blog and your words.. and YES I do have three somethings worth leaving behind. Three wonderful kids, who will be wonderful adults.....
God Bless You.

Once again, you've hit a chord with me. I don't make resolutions either - I know myself well enough to know I won't keep them, so why do it? I have thought a lot about this new year, and have also decided to work harder to be a better person - more loving and giving to all around me. it won't always be easy, but oh so worthwhile, and definitely with God's help.
The mittens are very cute, by the way!
