Being Strong, Conquering Distractions

The windows are done, check that one off the list! After a false start a couple of weeks ago I did finally get these valances completed for my daughter's Capital City home. This photo is representative of two identical windows that flank the fireplace in her family room. I love the silk ball-fringe trim that she selected for the edge treatment! I wouldn't say that I suffer from A.D.D. at all; but, Mason was an almost irresistible distraction to me. (I can liken this experience to having Hannes in obedience training a few years ago. He was working diligently on maintaining a "sit-stay" while there were squeaky toys being explored by a class full of puppies in a distant corner of the training ring, it was almost too much; but he did manage to stay in place! That was a huge accomplishment for him.) I am amazed that I not only stayed on task enough to finish these two window treatments but managed to stitch up a topper for the kitchen window, too. This was a tremendous feat when you realize that every fiber of my being only wanted to hold, feed, play with and cuddle my precious grandson the entire time! I can't help it, I am Nana, that's my real job!

Life is Good!

Beautiful!

As Mimi to 4 beautiful grandchildren, I can understand your desire to spend every moment playing with and holding, cuddling and enjoying your absolutely darling grandson. He is a cutie!

You do lovely work.

You should be very proud of yourself for staying on task...the power of those big blue eyes alone would have made it almost impossible to resist!

WOW congratulations with being able to stay on task...the toppers are so pretty and Mason is adorable! Maybe as *grandmas* we need to figure out a way to spoil and sew at the same time :>)!! Having older grandchildren doesn't make it easier ~ we just don't need to hold them on our laps any longer ;>, but the *hugs* still happen!

The analogy with Hannes at class - that helped me to understand.

Woah, Mrs. G. Your self control, your discipline is amazing.
