A Day To Remember

My parents are visiting from New England and celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary while they've been here! They both enjoy watching Nascar races on Sundays, as much for the racing personalities as for the racing itself. On Tuesday, my husband and I took them on a surprise outing to nearby Mooresville where the Memory Lane Auto Museum and the North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame are located. It was a beautiful, sunny, Spring day and something we hadn't done before; we hoped they'd enjoy this day as a way to celebrate. The Memory Lane Museum was packed with old cars, as the name implies, and many racing artifacts from days gone by. The second stop, the Nascar Hall of Fame, contained more of the same; plus Bobby Allison, the legendary race car driver who happened to stop by while we were there (he was taping an interview for an upcoming DVD)! He was gracious, friendly, and personable and happily agreed to this photo with my Dad before he left. It was a great day, one my Mom and Dad will talk about for years to come! All that museum hopping and hand shaking was enough to work up quite an appetite. We stopped at Big Daddy's for a seafood dinner before heading back home, my husband thought this chocolate cake was the perfect way to end his day! (To judge relative size look at the fork he's holding!) Oh, yeah... there was something for everybody!

Life is Good!

I never have room for dessert after Big Daddy's. Glad your Dad got to visit and meet Bobby Allison. I am not much of a fan but even I recognize his name.

Such a nice day! Your Dad looks great! :-) 57 years....wow! My parents would have been married 60 years last October, but my parents were always much older than your parents. I always remember thinking how young yours were and feeling envious of that. It's wonderful that you can enjoy wonderful days like this. You and Mr. G are such great "children". ;-)

Wish I had known you were going to Mooresville, there are several NASCAR shops there.About all of them give tours also, DH has taken many people there for tours, long before he started working for Roush-Fenway Racing. You never know who you will "run into".

57 years is a long, long time! Congratulations to your parents. I grew up in New England where a big part of my heart still lives--right on Cape Cod. Sounds like a yummy day--and chocolate to top it off!

New to your blog... :)

It does sound like a great weekend and one that you will remember for many years to come. I caught up on some of your other blogs too, as I have gotten behind in my reading. I am going to look for some of those fish oil pills today - but after reading your comments, I might try for the burpless kind. Thanks for the info!
