A Productive Weekend

It was a productive weekend at the Strawberry Patch, too rainy for any outdoor activities; yippee! I loaded a Picture Play quilt onto Sundance, and have had some nice results combining Superior thread's "Mono Poly" on the top with "So Fine" in the bobbin. I am meandering over all the novelties and couldn't use a thread with any color that would show and possibly obscure the images. I love the way it's turning out so far, I plan to come back in with a red thread and wiggle in and out of those zig-zaggy sashes. I found the cutest fabric in my stash for the backing, it has a family of bears at the beach, it's at least fifteen years old, (I can "date" it by remembering where we lived at the time I bought it) but, apparently, this was meant to be all along, as I had exactly enough! How about that? I finished the quilting on "Leo and Friends" earlier on Saturday before I loaded this one. I will get it bound and show a full photo soon, this one will be sold at the end of April to help raise money for the youth of our church who will be attending the National Lutheran Youth Gathering in New Orleans this summer. I quilted this one with a pantograph, Plumage, and Signature 100% cotton thread, top and bobbin.
Don't you just love rainy weekends?
Life is Good!

Oh I do enjoy the freedom of a rainy day or weekend. I found the mono-poly thread interesting as that was a "new to me" so I learned something. That's if for the day on that front! Looking forward to the sashes work, too. You're really on your own invigortating journey now with Sundance and it shows.

You know, I'm feeling very happy for you and the joy you are having together. It makes me smile on the inside.

Someone will be the lucky one to get that beautiful quilt! I still struggle with simple free motion and admire you "real" quilters out there! Maybe someday, if there were only more hours in the day to practice.

Oh some "vintage" fabric for the backing. It is very cute. I clicked on the pantograph pattern. I like it a lot.

Nice work, Mrs G! The bears are cute. I also like the Plumage panto. Might have to try that one.

Adorable quilt, meaningful reason for completing it, makes a quilter feel good! And to think the backing was purchased 15 years ago..there was a purpose without even knowing it at the time, and you just put it to that purpose! Congrats on good use of the fabric!

You and Sundance make a wonderful team! I love the quilting you've done. It adds that something extra to each quilt. Nicely done!

Wonderful quilt! I also noticed what looks like a "Story People" print in the background on your wall. :-)
