Go Away!

I'm building a case for "music only" in the studio. I'm weary of TV and the ads that I either don't understand, or find completely idiotic and annoying. I don't want to share my space anymore with Chad and his circle or, more recently, his strange alien friends. Just when I thought that it was safe to assume that everyone who wanted a Sham-Wow had already purchased one, Vince returned with the newest "can't live without it product", the Slap-Chop! Whatever happened to writers? I guess they've been redirected to unemployment lines ever since reality TV took over. The mute button is no longer adequate, it's power off for the TV, sorry Chad and Vince you're not invited in my space anymore, you'll have to pack up your hair gel and move to someone else's place; and while you're at it, feel free to take that "baby-come-back" singing broom along with you. I'm cranking up the iTunes and listening to music!

I don't miss my cable at all...however I do miss the music channels that came with the digital package. Yep I agree, turn on the music!! My computer is in my sewing room so I can use iTunes playlists up here (its amazing how well the speaker/subwoofer set that came with my computer sounds)

I have a small fortune invested in audio books that I listen to over and over again. Every now and then I'll buy a new one and I'm probably going to start checking them out from the library. I love to listen to a book while quilting. I have great wireless headphones so I can hear over the sewing machine and block out the TV that is usually on in the next room.

The TV is a distraction I can do without.

My first thought - What has Judy done? (The guys in her life are Vince & Chad!)

Oh my, yes, do I ever agree. TV today is the pits for me and I gave watching network TV the heave-ho long ago, having hardly anything on that interest me. I still own the TV set, but it doesn't own me.

As soon as the hubby and kids leave for the day I turn the TV off...then I go to our local Christian music station on the radio and turn that on. My house is so much more peaceful with that thing off. I've also started downloading audio books onto my i-pod. I can listen to my hearts content while sewing.
Life is indeed good!! :)

I so agree. I am lucky that our library system has a wide variety of books available for download to my mp3 player. I make good use of it.

For me it's Billy May. Why MUST he SHOUT everything? I still turn the tv on in the cubby, but more often than not, I tune in the radio *s*

ROFLOL. . . I must read too many blogs. . .I thought your title referred to Judy Laquidara's DH & DS!!! he he he he

I had to really think when you started saying about commercials. . I must tune them out because I couldn't tell you who was in them!

Thanks for the laugh!!

I couldn't agree more. My husband and I have had the TV off for 2 weeks and we really don't miss is at all.

You can tell how little television I watch by the fact that I have no idea who Chad and Vince are and I've never seen the singing broom . . . sounds like I haven't missed anything!

I have music in my studio but many times I sew in silence, especially there's too much noise everywhere else in my life. The hum of the machine is more than enough.

I have a tv in my sewing room that, lately, has only been turned on the play an exercise DVD. I, too, have been cranking up the itunes. I have been listening to the Smart Playlist titled so creatively "70s songs". I am up to the C's. After this playlist there are the playlists for the 80s songs, the 90s songs and the 21st Century songs with nothing repeated.

haven't turned it off completely yet, but I agree there's nothing on! But today someone told me where to find the quilting programs on PBS and I've DVR'd them. Next week I'll have a couple hours of GOOD tv to watch!!!!

I so agree with you. I didn't want to give up the space for a TV in my sewing room, but there's not a thing I want to watch. I too listen to music on my Ipod and/or books and podcasts.
