Graduation Day

Kyle's graduating this afternoon, but he won't be in attendance at the ceremony; no, he has a seat elsewhere today. We are grateful for a wonderful employment opportunity that has come his way, he's flown to Texas to explore his options there. I do admit to being disappointed about the cap and gown thing, and the celebration party here afterwards. I wanted those photos to frame, but the larger picture is so much more important, my head knows that and my heart will surely follow. I need to get used to something else now too; our son, and eventually our daughter-in-law, living over 1300 miles away! That will be hard for us, but good for them in the long run. We've never traveled to, or researched, the treasures of the Texas "hill country", there are new adventures awaiting all of us! Congratulations, Kyle, Happy Graduation Day; we love you and wish you all the best as you begin this new chapter of your life!

I'm with you and would have loved the day of seeing my son in cap and gown....but the overall picture of a job is much more important. :-) Congrats to your family on such a great accomplisment!

Not having children I can't imagine what this feels like. What I do know is that my heart goes out to you knowing it will be difficult to have the family spread out over the miles. And I can imagine how proud you are of him and his achievements.

Personally, I'm proud as well! :)

I know that feeling, when one of the chicks flies the coop for places much farther than the back yard. It's hard but it does give you new places to visit, and when you go, you get to spend more time with your kids. I think I remember a certain Mrs. G. who moved far away with her new hubby. ;-)

Sad for you about the graduation celebration though. Do you remember Brent's graduation last year? He wasn't going to attend, so we came south for two very special reasons that weekend. Then, in the end, he did go to commencement. I've harbored some "mother guilt" ever since, but next weekend we fly out to his graduate school graduation ceremony and we can't wait!

Much luck to Kyle and his bride on this new adventure in their lives!

There are many great things to loook forward to in the Hill country of Texas. Bluebonnets in the Spring, Beef BBQ, and Austin is a great place to visit. You can take a picture of him with his diploma and that first paycheck to frame! Congrats Kyle!

Congratulations to Kyle on his graduation and the propect and adventure of a new job and the chance to explore life in a different area. That is one thing I envy, the experience of living in a different part of the country. It'll be an adventure for them both but also difficult to leave you all. They will always know where home is. It's where Mama is.

What a wise mom you are!

I know how you feel though - I want my kids close to me too.

DH did not go through his graduation for the same reason ~ and the long term of our life has been the better for it . . . yes, your heart will adjust. And we lived hundreds of miles (over 8 hours) from his mom for the first 20 years of our married life (visiting on alternate Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays and spring breaks) ~ now she lives less than a mile from us . . . it all works out in the end.

Blessings to you and your family!!!!

Congratulations to your son on his graduation.....and getting a job!!Those jobs are hard to come by especially here in MI. I like Nane's idea of a framed photo of Kyle with his diploma and his first paycheck. You could throw a party with the family and close friends. Hook up the video cam so he could see and talk to everyone. Our family did that for 2 Christmas's when our granddaughter lived in Mexico. We also sat and watched our g'g'son sleep many times!!! It sure brought them close to us in spite of the many miles.

Congratulations to Kyle and to your family, I know you are proud! Yes your head will sort it out, and your heart will understand, I am sure Kyle has mixed emotions too. A paycheck and his future plans will also help him to keep his focus on the future! God bless you for dealing with it all!

How many times have you moved to strange places, just to be with DH..When you love someone, you follow where they lead.AND, Mama's
learn to except that....Boy, I sound like your Mama...Just my thoughts! Maybe I should sign this " Rambling Rose" LOL
2 1/2 weeks left!!!!

There are so many other wonderful moments in your & son's life that you will find far more important than graduation ... went thru this with my son, no regrets at all. I knew he was happy making the right choices for his life ... you will, too.

You are going to love TX ... we fell in love with it when we went there & always look forward to returning.

Congrats on your son's new steps forward in life ... much success.

I am dreading the day when my babies leave the nest, too. You will love the Texas Hill Country. Beauty, charm, rustic country side and yummy food all in one place!

I dread the day that I have to watch my little birds leave the nest to adventures unknown.

Congrats to Kyle and a prayer of strength to mom.

Hello. I happened on to your blog from Bonnie's. Here's something you can look forward to on visits to the Texas Hill Country: www.creations-online.com. It's one of my faves!

My husband and I were just saying what a wonderful era we live in with airplanes and telephones and digital cameras and e-mail and chat and VISUAL CHAT! "It seems like the kids are in the next city over rather than on another continent!" I know those hugs are going to be hard to give up but they are more precious everytime you get together.

You have such a good attitude, even tho I know this is gonna kill you! But you will have new things to explore also. My kids are all 100's and more miles away. I miss them always. Now you will learn to Skype!
