Cool Kid

What is it with little boys and refrigerators? Yes, this is Mason. I received this photo from his other grandmother, I couldn't help but laugh when I saw it. My daughter reports that Mason is like a "moth to a flame" when their refrigerator door opens! I remember another little boy, my own son, who was the same way when it came to our 'fridge. Back then, over 28 years ago, we didn't have cordless telephones; one of our two house phones was a wall mounted one in the kitchen with an extra-long cord, enabling me to reach anything in that room. For some reason, whenever the phone rang, Kyle would make a beeline straight to the refrigerator to yank the door open. I don't know what he thought he was going to pull out, but as soon as he would start in that direction I would put my foot firmly against the bottom of the refrigerator door and continue the phone conversation. Kyle would promptly produce an ear-splitting scream when he realized that I had reached the door before him. Whoever had phoned would then ask if it was a bad time to talk (it was always a bad time unless Kyle was napping). "Yes", I would reply, "can you call back later"? Of course, unless it was one of my friends, they never did. This excuse was just the best when given to telephone sales people. I should tell my daughter about this, it worked like a charm!

How cute. Great funny story about how you managed life raising your kids, too. Thanks for sharing this tidbit. I love these little treasures you drop from time to time.

Little boys do like "friges' for some reason, mine included and he is now 50 years old. It was really a chore keeping him out of the fridge when he was able to open it himself! OH, the joys of motherhood. May we never forget!

I guess it must have something to do with man's instinct to be a hunter of food for the family, LOL. To this day, my son likes to go in my kitchen and open the refrigerator and just look and see what is in there.....and he is 31!

Adorable! I especially love that little knee. That kid already has spatial placement, creative problem solving, and how to out think a woman, down pat...the secret? ...being cute as a bug and twice as clever! Pass on your hint, quick!!!

Goodness, Mason is growing so fast!
(So, is this how the family charm is formed or a future in 'marketing'?! Delightful to have a peek of the growing years of our wonderful son-in-law!)

Gosh, he's a big boy!

I remember my brother was the same way about the fridge. He was after something specific though...the butter sticks. If you didn't watch out, he'd climb up there and eat a stick of butter.

Yuck.

How this photo makes me laugh! My grandson is so enamored with the fridge, that my son has put a lock on it. When it's left unlocked, Truman opens it, climbs up the door, and helps himself to whatever food he wants! I guess the old adage is true "The way to a man's heart is through his stomach". It starts early, doesn't it? Mason is adorable, by the way!
