Fannye's Legacy

I'm preparing binding today for this scrappy Bear Paw quilt. Sundance helped me out to get it to this point, quilted and ready to finish. Fannye Hall died very unexpectedly four year ago; she was the matriarch of our local guild, mentor to the masses in these parts. I purchased this as a top of hers at an auction a while back, the proceeds going to benefit my aforementioned guild, a fund-raising idea of which she would definitely approve! Time and circumstances have bound us together forever on this project, I have a feeling she would be pleased with this collaboration. Fannye can rest assured that I will bind this quilt with care and precision, she'd expect nothing less from me. It was she who taught me how to bind a quilt properly; how turn a sharp, square corner, one of which we could both be proud. Fannye's legacy lives on. I still miss her, but today I recognize it's the blessing of having known her that will endure into tomorrow through every quilt of my own.

Welcome back! I actually like binding a quilt. I find it totally relaxing to be able to sit and sew.

I too love doing the binding. It is so relaxing...unless I am under a time constraint.
I love the happy backing fabric you used.
I am sure you miss your friend/mentor. This has got to have been a great exercise for you. Thinking of her as you quilt.
I am soooo glad to see you are back in blogland!

Ahh my friend, I remember the previous posting about Fannye. I am even more in touch with these feelings after losing my own Mentor, Daphanie, so suddenly this December 4th. Your words reach out and touch me in a way that allow me to reach back and say to you this.

You stand as a testament to moving forward, celebrating life and mostly honoring those that have given so much to us. The tears are gone but the memory is so RICH and DEEP and it infuses everything.

Thank you for bringing up Fannye again. I do remember...

Yours always, *karendianne.

It is so good to see your posting Mrs. G., WELCOME BACK, I do hope we continue to hear from you!

Your special project so touched my heart, I know you will have a special bond with the quilt as you stitch the binding...it is a really pretty quilt!

The mention of your quilt maker as a mentor touched me, because I have heard my granddaughter mention to others that she has learned her quilting from me...actually she is a natural she only heard the basics from me! But it is special that you so lovingly mention 'Fannye', and she will be forever in you heart.
