Just How Much Can One Head Hold?

I called the needlework shop a few days ago and enrolled... in a beginning smocking class! The class offers two and a half hours of instruction per class, there are two classes, enough to learn the very basic techniques. My daughter sent me this photo for inspiration; it's all that I need to fuel my fire. Nothing like setting the bar high! It will take me forever to be able to do anything like this but I am determined! "They say" that a woman's purse expands to carry everything she needs, can one's brain do the same thing? I have just installed EQ7 and need to wade my way through those lesson plans, and then there's Photoshop; I am attempting to teach myself how to use that, too. My head is getting very full! And so, as if to test any cranial-expansion possibility, I'm off... to smocking class; wish me luck!

Life is Good!

Oh the smocking class sounds GREAT !
If I ever have a granddaughter I am going to have to take a smocking class, too.
I looked back at a few of your previous posts, a new grandchild, how wonderful ! Is this little girl Mason's sister ?
No sewing for me this weekend-- company coming today for the Baby Shower tomorrow. :)

I tried smocking back in the day when my baby girl was a wee one. It's not hard, just requires attention to detail and patience. You will be a natural. And the results will make you glo with "I can't believe I really did that"-ness.

EQ7? Photoshop? Your resume is growing by leaps and bounds!

Good for you! I've never smocked; my niece does absolutely gorgeous work, so there's the gene for it that I've never activated. Will be happy to view your progress!

If you have ever done counted cross stitch, then smocking will be easy for you.

I smocked many outfits for my daughter and nieces. When they grew too old and cool to wear the clothes that I made for them, it was a sad day for me until I discovered quilting. I've kept the pleater and smocking patterns and plates for someday...

Enjoy!

I remember smocking and truly enjoying the end result, have fun...your quilting is always wonderful and your smocking will be also! I tried smocking many years ago and decided it was not my thing - it and tatting were two kinds of needle work that I just could not get my head around. However it is beautiful and the outfit is very lovely- I am sure you will master it Debbie.
Enjoy the process.

Anna

As good as you are with a needle, you will have no problem picking this up.

I know you will love it. I have been smocking for about 24 years. I started when my daughter was born and now I make decorative things and night gowns for Me! Enjoy!
