Making The Best Of A Bad Break...

Thanks to everyone who has expressed get-well wishes and prayers on behalf of my daughter following her fall and resulting broken foot. We're establishing some routine in what was an otherwise well-oiled machine of a household. A patio chair has been placed in the shower for stability, it works great! The newly appointed cook and housekeeper takes at least twice as long as normal to do each and every little task; the child-proof cabinet door locks, doorknob and outlet covers really slow me down. I fold the towels differently and put the dishes away where I think they should go, but so far my daughter hasn't sent me packing for home; she is patient with me and I am sympathetic with the situation of the patient. Our outings consist of those where there are motorized carts for transport; so far Target and Harris Teeter are tops on our destination lists. She will visit an Orthopedist on Monday for a more definitive diagnosis on the fracture and weight-bearing. Right now our prayer is that the baby will stay put for as long as possible, the best scenario is that Mommy will be walking on her own two feet when the little one makes her entrance. In the meantime we're coming to grips with what has happened, counting our blessings and enjoying some unplanned mother-daughter time together!

Life is Good!

I love the photo!! Look at her go...no holding her back! ;-) I'm sure you're loving feeling so needed and who cares if towels are folded in a different way. Mother/daughter bonding time is the best! Perhaps it's God's way of saying, "slow down, relish the time together, and enjoy the ride" (on a motorized scooter!).

ARF = absolute rigid flexibility

Life is SO full of opportunities to adapt and cope ... but we rarely take time to realize just how much we actually do.

Glad you can be there!

Oh my! You are in the stew now! But loving it, I am sure. So sorry to hear about your daughter's break. It must be going around. Jack broke his arm while I was tending. Wishing you all the best!

Goodness - how terrible that's for sure!! Hopefully she can get in to a walking cast as soon as possible. I can imagine how difficult it is for everyone. I always find it difficult when I visit Jessica and the babies - I can never open the doors or cupboards - they have some weird little latches on the inside of the cupboards and they always trick me up! Good luck, my best wishes for a speedy recovery for you daughter.

I was so sorry to hear about your daughter's broken foot. I hope it mends quickly- She must be thrilled to have you to help and be with her right now. Mason must be loving having you close by too.
There is nothing like having your mom when you are hurt and need nurturing.

When I broke my ankle few years ago my mom came from Bulgaria and I didn't mind her putting dishes whatever she decided was best! Sometimes you just need your mommy!

Sending best wishes to your daughter! I hope she heals before the baby comes!
