Her First Quilt!

This is my neighbor, she wanted to make a quilt. She had lots and lots of worn-out blue jeans at her disposal. I loaned her a rotary cutter and a mat (after a quick safety lesson) a few months ago. She dropped by for show and tell yesterday afternoon! She's nine years old and sleeps under this warm and wonderful work of art every night. She's talking about making herself a matching pillow sham. Something tells me that her first quilt won't be her last.

Life is Good!

It's wonderful! What a great age to get bitten by the quilting bug, and what a great way to start -- with recycling fabric! I'll bet that quilt will wear like iron and give her many years of warmth. Sooo much better that some of us whose first efforts involved polyester (grin). She is fortunate to have you as a mentor, and you are blessed to have such a willing pupil.

She definitely looks like a "quilter in the making." Isn't it wonderful to mentor such a willing participant? I am still waiting for my daughter to retire, then "she will learn to quilt," she says. Judy C www.shadetreequilting.com

Amazing work, especially for a nine year old! The quilt is great! Hope she continues on with quilting and that we'll see more of her work here.
