Old News

It's been all over the news lately, and they're calling it a craze; the "MOM Cave" craze. The news reporters refer to the subject matter of this story as "women retaliating against the niches carved out by their husbands", namely their "man caves". Seriously? This is the photo that they're running on the various networks, one of a woman seeking refuge in her own space... doing what else... sewing! To those of us who are quilters this is OLD news; or better yet: not news at all! We had our spaces, created by necessity, long before they were referred to by any cute titles; probably as far back as to when they actually were caves, just don't tell the men.

Life is Good!

Awesome, but my sewing space doesn't look this neat and tidy!

Obviously a bogus, staged picture -- no REAL quilter would have a cave nearly as sterile as this. Prolly written by a guy ; )

mine IS a cave... :)

Yep, staged. I don't even see a pair of scissors. DH has always called mine the cave, because it is in the basement with no natural daylight.

All my piles of UFO's make mine more of a nest I guess...

...huh. I don't know what to say. I mean, having the entire house and all. Kinda shameless of me, ha?

Currently my room is large, full of my stuff, and husband and others do not stay there very long. I just love being there with or without company. I like that "monthly feature" idea that Kimquiltz had but would we have to clean up first?

"mom caves" is really funny. My studio was a requirement for retirement. But before that I had taken over all but about 1/6th of the living room. And it's not a "mom" cave but Gari's studio and I love it.

I, too, like the idea of a monthly blogged studio feature but, like Gari, my workspaces are not called caves. I'm blessed to have my sewing studio and my design studio (formerly known as bedrooms 3 and 4).
