Even though we've been home for several weeks now, permit me to relive our Canadian adventure:
Picturesque Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, has a long-standing history based on wooden ship building.
We visited the massive ship building "garage" (hard hat area) where the reconstruction of the Bluenose II is well underway. She will sail again in early 2012.
Our first stop as we approached Peggy's Cove was to the Swissair Flight #111 memorial:

The second picture of the lighthouse at Peggy's Cove would make a wonderful landscape quilt. But you've probably already thought of that.
Wow--That is a big wooden ship! I can't even fathom how something like that comes together.

Wow, your photos are lovely, and make me long to visit Peggy's Cove. There's was Canadian folk singer named Stan Rogers who sang many nautical songs, and one of them has a reference to the Bluenose (and dumping money into a hole in the water...). I may have to go play his CD right now.
Gorgeous scenery! Looks like you had a perfect day there--but I could picture it in blustery wind and wave as well. The ships are fantastic.

It is always fun to see the photos of Nova Scotia- My husband's aunt lived near Lunenberg in a place called Riverport. It is a beautiful area. Peggy's Cove is so picturesque- the memorial was not there when we were there last. did you go through Mahone Bay? When I think of Mahone Bay, I think of my father in law trying to drive and admire the birds.. It was a miracle we did not land up in the bay LOL It is a very pretty area of Canada. Thanks for sharing...
