Quilting Effects

"Stars and Scraps Forever" is in the process of being quilted. I chose a pantograph by Anne Bright called "Calm Water", loaded the quilt sideways (which places the quilting design on end), and began stitching. I love the resulting effect; which, to me, now looks like woodgrain. This will be a great quilt for a man; often a masculine quilt and/or quilting design are hard to come by.

Beautiful combination of design and quilting. It does look very masculine, but I like it too! I can't help thinking of of Irish Spring :-)

You are correct in that masculine quilts are infrequent. I Like to make masculine quilts just for that reason. Love that panto.

You are right -- this quilt does have masculine appeal! I think it takes a special eye to be able to envision how a pattern will play out on a top. The quilting design is not one I would have thought of, but boy does it look great. Nice job!!

Nice and vibrant but not childish--great masculine quilt for sure! I like the "on end" quilting idea, looks terrific.

This is a winner in my book. Nice quilting choice. I have one of Anne Bright's books and I find inspiration there--if I can just get the courage to try them out.

Sounds like a Christmas present for a certain woodworker in your life.

Very nice! And keeping your neighbor in our prayers....what a great idea to keep a closet of quilts just waiting to find their home.

Masculine quilts are far and few for sure! (speaking from experience here on the one I've got going) LOL
