What Was I Thinking?

The closet that keeps on giving has released a few (hundred) relics! I am loading boxes with donations that are heading in different directions: Goodwill, our church's Quilt Ministry, our local Quilt Guild and, last but not least, the trash can! I found lots and lots of quilt-related clothing patterns, that are not being kept! I never made any vests from this pattern (my daughter can go ahead and breathe a sigh of relief now!) but how I remember the excitement attached to purchasing this and thinking that I might! Oh, yes, there's some age on this pattern as well as this blog's author, I am continually reminded.

On Sunday afternoon Mr. Goodneedle and I were out shopping when I saw a young woman run across the parking lot wearing shoes that look a lot like the one pictured below. I actually heard myself say, out loud, "she's going to twist her ankle in shoes like that"!  My husband and I laughed out loud as we both realized how old I suddenly sounded. That's OK. One day that woman will clean out her closet and have a moment of reckoning when she sees those shoes, she'll feel exactly the same way I did last week when I ran across this pattern... I can almost hear her thinking out loud: "what was I thinking?"!

Life is Good!

I think I actually owned a pair of shoes similar to that when I was in high school or early college days. Yikes!! What was I thinking? : )

before you give that pattern away, i'm sure marcia would like two or three of those vest. just imagine her excitement at opening that present. :)

I think you probably bought that pattern because it said you could make both the skirt and the vest before noon!!! Now that's your style! Don't think they will be coming back in style, huh?

Right there with you! As one who has been in sensible shoes for many years (not necessarily by choice), I am constantly amazed at what I see on peoples' feet . . . and I mutter "they're going to be sorry one day" (knowing that others have said that same phrase long before my time).

Doesn't it feel good to re-direct the closet contents? (despite the million decisions and hard work required)

You have to admit, that outfit would have been in style "back then". You would have looked very "with it" (back in the late 70's/early 80's!!). ;-)

The look of those shoes just makes my feet hurt - and that is something I truly do avoid now. Life is good when you practice more wisdom. DWH and I are always saying - "if only they knew."

But those shoes are too cute! If my ankle didn't keep rolling on me, I'd wear them. I purged patterns last year and had the same thoughts you are having.

I know that I had skirts like that and I certainly made paneled vests that were quilted...LoL those were the days...
As for the shoes- well I am astonished what others can wear on their feet and be comfortable.
Happy cleaning- some people are going to think they found a treasure in your cast offs. You know the expression My junk can be someone else's treasure or something like that...
