What Was That Beep?

I was sewing on Tuesday afternoon when my husband stuck his head in the door to my sewing room and asked "did you hear that?" "What?", I asked. "That beep, what was that beep?" Then I heard it, it was a cross between a beep and a squeak. It went off every so often; but we could NOT locate it. Gregory was here, napping at the time, I pressed my ear up against the door to the bedroom where he was sleeping to make sure that it wasn't coming from inside, it wasn't. We checked smoke detectors, we listened intently from every corner of our house. Another beep would having us off and running/searching all over again. Finally, peacefully, it stopped altogether. Later on, I loaded Gregory into his carseat to take him back home. I picked up my cell phone, from my purse, to let my daughter-in-law know that we were on the way; but I couldn't call her, my phone was dead. I didn't make the connection between the dead phone and the mysterious beep-squeak right away, it was a gradual dawning process... "Ohhhhh, yeah." I plugged in my phone when I returned back home. Now I know what a dying phone battery's warning signal sounds like, let's hope I remember!

( I know my children are shaking their heads at this disclosure;
take heart, dear ones, your future is closer than you think!)

Life is Good!

John bought me a smart phone for my last birthday and the battery life is so much shorter. I would find the phone reached the low point quickly so now each morning when I make coffee and turn on the computer I plug in the phone to the charger.
Quilting can be distracting too, for sure. ;D

I am chuckling because I did the same thing and
best of all.......more than once. The second time
I was sure it wasn't my phone...my son shook
his head for a long time.

You should have just asked Gregory what the beep was when he woke. I'm SURE he would have known. That boy knows all about Nana's phone! :)

Think of all the new friends you can make - just because you can't remember the ones you have. Welcome to our world - they know us here. LoL JC

When i upgraded my itunes, the battery life shortened so i did some research. One thing they recommended is to let your phone battery completely exhaust once a month. You can consider April DONE!
What a contented picture: your husband home, you sewing, your wonderful grandson napping. Sweet!

Yup - been there. In fact my phone is charging right now. I had it by my bed all night due to weather issues and kept hearing a slight beep. I didn't even connect until I checked this morning.

Oh well.... somedays I am happy that the battery is drained - fewer interruptions!

DH's phone chirps, mine buzzes, his work Blackberry 'deedles' . . . sounds like a chorus of crickets some days -- love how universal this topic is!

If you kept your phone on all the time and didn't turn it off you'd be familiar with that sound.

Wow, this sure sparked the comments! You obviously don't let your phone run down on a regular basis. I'm very familiar with that sound because I rarely remember to charge my phone until I grab it to go when I am running out the door. Most of the time it ends up being charged in the car as I drive. : )

Mine gets charged every night while I am sleeping. I guess we both re-charge our batteries then. (:>)

I can relate... our kids can't figure out why my husband doesn't have his phone turned on all the time! We've told them cell phones are a convenience we can use them whenever/where ever we want! Most of them use them as their always phones.. not having a land line. So, I suppose that's a big difference.
We have done the same thing with smoke detectors! Fun stuff!
