Twinkle, Twinkle!

At long last "Twinkle, Twinkle" is being bound, labeled, and added to the DONE list! This quilt is a perfect illustration for the phrase: "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts". Before these scrappy stars were constructed they were merely small, seemingly worthless, fabric strips discarded into a scrap bin. One by one they were selected, stitched to a foundation for stability and trimmed into shape; slowly they took form and began to shine. Each star, in its own time, became a twinkling addition to this constellation of twelve; a quilt top was born from found fabrics, otherwise insignificant leftovers from previous projects. The only piece purchased for this was the backing fabric. Sundance performed beautifully during the quilting process; the quilt itself dictated where to place the stitches... it was the perfect collaboration!
"Twinkle, twinkle string-strip star,
a long time becoming what you are.
From scraps too small and pieces old,
a fabric history to behold."

This one is 100% Hannes approved!
Life is Good!

It's just beautiful... I'm amazed how various scraps can become so beautiful. Hannes is looking pretty good on that red background, too!

Your quilt is beautiful! I was inspired to make a scrappy star quilt after I saw yours. Mine is still in the top stage. I used a green polka dot for the sashing which I have decided is too busy. I'm trying to convince myself that I like it anyway. Seeing yours makes me think I should finish mine too. Thanks for the inspiration!

I had to enlarge each photo to get a good look at the quilting. You and Sundance did yourselves proud! I wish my quilts would dictate to me where to put the stitches!
Hannes appears to have taken possession. (Who wouldn't want to?)

I've admired this quilt ever since you put it on your blog header. I even pulled out some strings one day and started a couple string diamonds.....now what box did they get put into?
