The Heat Is On

In our parts we don't normally need to turn the heat on in the house until late October, the advent of the heating season is a signal to me... time to start making Christmas gifts for friends and family! I have some great ideas this year and some of my supplies have begun to roll in. Last week 40 lbs. of cherry pits were delivered to the front door (I'm splitting this order with a friend) and I am expecting some other random items over the next few days; I can hardly contain the excitement! I don't make all the gifts we're giving this year, we've done some shopping and Mr. Goodneedle is busy in his basement workshop as well!  The week before last we headed to Concord, NC to a Christmas craft show and purchased a few gifts there; in fact, I did so much "damage" at my favorite vendor booth, Stitches and Paint, that they gave me this coffee canteen as a "thank you". I love it, it has already accompanied me outside several times, filled with coffee it is just the perfect "warm up" I've needed while doing some yard work on a few recent cold mornings! Check out their website for all sorts of cute handmade accessory items, they are wonderful folks and their products are really pretty, useful, and extremely well made. You're probably feeling the heat these days too as the holidays approach ever so quickly, and that burner is only going to get turned up even hotter!
...keep those feet a'hoppin'...
Life is Good!

Cherry pits? What the heck are you doing with those?

DH used to use Halloween as his target date for the heat to go on. Considering that we have often had snow by then, it was a little late for my comfort. We have been in the 20s at night for weeks, so he relented early this year.
The cherry pits have me curious as well. That is a craft item I have not been aware of, to date.
Between your fabric skills and DH's woodcraft skills, friends and family on your gift list are lucky, indeed!

you are turning up the heat, and we will need the cooling today, it is expected to be 35deg C here today, which is rather warm for us in early November!!

just checked and 35 is your 95deg F, and I am curious as to the cherry pits too!

What do you do with cherry pits?

Dare I ask what you're doing with the cherry pits? Am I going to regret throwing away all those pits from the 40lbs of cherries I pitted earlier this year?

I would imagine that you're making heating pads with those cherry pits. I haven't been able to find them locally yet. I tried eating my way through enough cherries but found out it takes ALOT of cherry pits to fill one of those bags! Perhaps I'll be able to get some when I go Stateside for a visit next year. :-) Happy stitching!
