Snow Day!

It was forecast to be a "big one"; we don't get a lot of those here in North Carolina but when the word comes down, we know what it takes to prepare for heavy snow. We had the necessary bread and milk and waited, eagerly, for Wednesday's snow to arrive. I answered the phone around 9 that morning to hear my daughter report that they were calling for an even-worse-than-snow event in the Capital City: ice; warnings were issued to prepare for long-term power outages. She decided to pack up the children and the dog and make a run for it... back home; they arrived around noon and the snow began shortly thereafter.
It snowed, and sleeted, and snowed again, until 4:00 PM on Thursday. We ended up with about a foot of snow when it was all said and done. Luckily, we never experienced any power outages... only this picture postcard scenery. We don't take this weather for granted here, we know it will all too soon be a memory.
Gregory and Lynnleigh joined their cousins at Nana and PawPaw's late Thursday afternoon for some excellent sledding and an impromptu pot-luck supper together. There's nothing quite like reliving the magic of snow through the happy eyes and ecstatic shrieks of children at play on sleds; they had a blast... and so did we!
Life is Good!

It is so nice to read that this stuff is a novelty and causing excitement for some. It has become very, very old for us . . . .

Our granddaughter moved from AL to NC last month and has been experiencing your snow: she now says she misses South AL. :-) But her son is really having fun with nothing but snow days.

Oh what fun. Sounds like Nana's house was THE place to be for a snow party.

Hi there, So glad your grands got to have a fun snow day! We have had lots of snow this year and it has been so very cold! Now our snow on the ground(at lest 3")has been melting for the last two days but more predicted next week. This is the first time I'm ready for it to end. Of course, we won't have spring until the middle of May.
Have a great weekend.

We were thankful not to loose power too! And for my four wheel drive so we could get out the drive!

Looks like a lot of fun and good memories for the grandies. Our really hot weather has eased this week, but I guess there will be more yet this summer.

What a wonderful post! I grew up in snow land - it is rare here (especially 12" all at once) - but I can still hear those long-ago shrieks of excitement (my sister's and my own) from the Michigan sledding hills!

Your house looks like a picture postcard with all the snow. The absolute BEST is seeing the smiles on those little faces as they played in the snow. You can almost "hear" the laughter! Blessed!!
