Thawing...

At the risk of being spurned by friends and family in the frozen north things are beginning to thaw around here... I don't have any Daffodils in full bloom just yet but I have seen some colorful displays in yards around town this week! Yesirree, if the daylight savings hasn't been enough to get you in the mood take a look at what's on the calendar for ten short days from now:

Yep, spring begins!

The other thing around here that's thawing out is my shoulder! Hooray!! You'll notice that "Physical Therapy" is written in on calendar, that's happening twice a week as well as dedicated exercise sessions at home, twice a day; that eats up a chunk of time...but it's all good. Little by little the pain and stiffness have gone away and flexibility and strength have returned in their place.

We did have to break down and buy a new refrigerator/freezer to replace the dead one at the bottom of the basement stairs. Mr. Goodneedle tried to bring it back by replacing some parts but, after time and money are spent with no success, you simply have to call it and move on. Luckily we didn't need anything fancy or color coordinated, we were able to find what we needed (one that worked!) at a good price with free delivery. I've slowly been stocking the new freezer this week; it takes time to build up the kind of inventory that we lost, and to be honest, it scares me a little to do this all over again. So, while the good news is what's thawing out around here the even better news is what's remaining frozen on purpose!

I'm making progress on "Go, Big Red". My original plan was to border six big blocks with a two inch inner border in white and and an outer border of assorted red four inch square blocks. Well, there won't be enough white fabric remaining to do that after all; but it's okay, I have a new plan. I'll run the outer angles right out into the dark red, scrappy border as illustrated above. I like it. Sometimes necessity gives birth to an even better idea; and, don't forget, I am more flexible than I was a few weeks ago... I can roll with this!

I seem to be the kiss of death to computers this week. *sigh*. Two of them, if you can believe it. The 1st is at the computer doc and the 2nd I was able to restore myself. Glad you got the freezer situation fixed.

Good luck with your reds -- I prewash everything and when I washed Winston Ways for the first time some of the reds ran! Thank goodness somebody pointed me to Vicki Welsh's fabulous article and a long soak in Dawn Pure Essentials rescued the quilt. I AM going to take every bit of red on my shelves and give it all a long soak in Dawn.

We are also thawing out; the snow is almost gone. 56 degrees and sunny here in North Dakota.

We had the same happen to the fridge a few years ago, and, yes, it does take some time and money to fill it again.

Love the quilt!

Good news about the thawing on both fronts!
The quilt border idea is very clever. I like it!

I am always drawn to Red color Quilts. This one is great. I am sure you will come up with the perfect borders.
