Fall Bag, New Arrangement

I have a new bag, one for Fall! I have managed to sew this (and its small companion pouch) this week, I love them and know that I will enjoy carrying them. I thought the zipper would be hardest part, but it wasn't at all... sewing and then turning the handles was! Grrr... I stabilized the patchwork with DecorBond and then quilted through that and Quilter's Dream batting, it makes a nice, sturdy weight for a handbag. Fabric: 'Fall Back In Time' collection by Sandy Gervais for Moda.
Pattern: 'My Things' by Rosalie Quinlan Designs.

Other than that, ever since we returned from being away my days have been consumed with catching up and there's been little being accomplished on the sewing front. That's far from saying that there's nothing going on in the studio, though! My husband and I have decided to reconfigure my space and eventually add better, more specific task lighting. I don't embrace change of any sort, it's difficult for me; but this idea was mine! In an effort to find a good, efficient layout the furniture's been moved. I'm forever walking to the space now where the cutting island was and turning my chair in the wrong direction to reach my machine accessory box! Does everyone do this or am I just a slow learner? At any rate, I'm trying out the new arrangement on a trial basis this week to see how everything "fits". If it does, we'll be moving/adding overhead lighting soon and redoing the ceiling.

Stay tuned...
Life is Good!

Love the bag! Now, how did you learn the zipper? That's what I really want to figure out - good for you!

I LOVE the bag! If you haven't been by K1S2 lately, stop by sometime and see Martha's pumpkin out of the same fabrics. A group of us are taking the pumpkin class and I cannot wait to get my hands on those fabrics!

Your bag turned out really nice! The fabrics are wonderful :) I did the handles a different way than the pattern says on mine, no turning. Hope your new studio layout works for you!

I am not even sure I can find my zipper foot anymore...its been so long since I have tried to put one in. But a bag without one would not fit my lifestyle for sure (when I hit the brakes in the car..the contents of my purse would be on the floor) Very Nice!

This bag is lovely. And I can't wait to see how you manage the lighting in your quilt room. I really struggle with lighting in my space and with the dark, wintery days coming up (it will be dark here by 4pm soon) I really need to figure out some lighting solutions.

Beautiful bag! If I didn't have so many already, I would definitely be joining the bag making craze.
I really embrace change, especially ones I have initiated, but it is hard for me too sometimes. Changing the clock irks me to no end because it takes me so long to get used to the new time. And writing a new year on my checks.

I also love the quilt on the design wall! What a lovely space you have to be creative.

Love the bag! Will have to look for that pattern! Hum.... I need to make some changes in my sewing room too! Lighting is a big issue! We're renovating our bedroom in the Spring so given my sewing room is next to it, we shall tackle the lighting at the same time. The walls and ceiling will be open! Looking forward to seeing what you do with your space!

The bag you made is so pretty! I love that fabric line.
Your sewing room looks wonderful - so spacious! I also have trouble when I move things around, too - old habits die hard, I guess! I also have a design wall like yours - my hubby made it for me!

Nope, you're not the only one who goes to where things "used to be" rather than where they are :0). It usually takes me at least a week if not more to catch up with my own changes :0) so hang in there!
