We left Caldwell, ID and headed in the direction of Baker City, OR via Hells Canyon Scenic Byway. This canyon is the deepest in the country, carved by the Snake River and nicknamed "the cradle of the Snake"; the walls, in places are very steep, sheer rock cliffs. I will simply include photos here, for you to look at without any further commentary; it was a stunnning drive with each view of the river , around each bend in the road, more commanding than the one before. There are more adventures to come, and more quilt shops to report on too, in the next few installments of this ongoing travelogue. But, for today, I leave you with the Snake River... in all of its glory.
