My Adventures In The Attic, Partie Deux

So, as you may remember, I was up in the attic last week... I also found this label-less quilt, it's a picnic quilt and the perfect thing to kick off summer! I made this one ten years ago from a pattern in "American Quilter" magazine, Summer 1997. I cannot find that particular magazine but have contacted the AQS to find the pattern name and perhaps a reprint of the instructions*. It's super easy, alternating framed blocks of two coordinating fabrics. I remember finding the fresh summery-looking plaid for the backing while vacationing in New England. It's simply straight-line quilted with a walking foot. Grab a pair of fabrics and sew one up for your own picnic basket! This one will get a label now. The quilt's name?

"Life's A Picnic"
~Life is Good~
...and sometimes it's a picnic, too!

*Update: "Patchwork With A Plan" by Barbara Elwell,
American Quilter magazine, Summer'97

The article describes using eight inch squares and two inch strips of two
related fabrics to create this type of nap quilt.

  1. "It's super easy"

This, of course, is a relative term.

  2. I keep a 'picnic' quilt in the back of my vehicle. You never know when a spontaneous picnic might happen *s*
