Sense of Humor/Sense of Balance

I appreciate a good sense of humor. I don't take myself too seriously, nor do I expect anyone else to, I like to laugh and I enjoy laughing with my friends. Most people like to laugh, want to laugh, look for the relief that laughter can bring. It has become apparent to me that having a sense of humor means that you must also have that "balance" that allows you to laugh at yourself as well. I can do that, and it happened to me yesterday. I am thankful that God has blessed me with a healthy, balanced, sense of humor. Let me relate the incident: I was attending a trunk showing at my local quilt shop; a showing of "blank" items suitable for machine embroidery. The room was packed, classroom-style with rows of chairs one after another. There were a few ladies who stood in the open doorway, observing, as all the chairs were filled. One of these women, a friend of mine, noticed an item being passed through the rows that appered to be a linen pouch-type bag with ribbon drawstrings at the top. She remarked: "that would be just perfect to hide your toilet tissue." (Naturally, she meant a spare roll, but I had no clue what she meant and I was thinking... "why would anyone want to hide their toilet tissue?... who would you hide it from... why would this ever be a good idea"... etc.) With these questions running fast through my mind I asked the question, out loud: "Why would you want to do that?" Apparently everyone else in the room at the same time knew she meant spare roll; I was still confused and suddenly... like a ton of bricks falling, it hit me! I started to laugh at the absurdity of my question (as well as the round-about thought pattern that her question had conjured up in my mind)... and I realized that everyone else was laughing too, hard. Well, I got so tickled that I laughed, really laughed with tears streaming down my cheeks until my sides ached. By now, the rest of the women laughing were laughing-- at me laughing! I think I heard something about me being blond at the same time. That was funny too. I was among friends and it was one of those moments that I will remember for a long, long time.

I can laugh at myself.
Don't miss the chance to laugh with someone you love today!!
It's all about balance and it's all good.

Life is good!

Beverly, you're right; he is wonderful! I admit to being prejudiced, too! Ha. Thanks, but I can't take credit... he is the man he is because he's had hosts of excellent role models, incredible opportunities, and knows and loves God. Now, we must stop talking about him or his head will swell and we'll never get it covered over with hair again!! :)

I have to admit that hearing you laugh is one of those memories I always cherish from my childhood. For one thing, you do a lot of it. You're always pointing out the absurdities of even the littlest things in life, immediately followed by a heart fealt laugh and a mini snort.

Yes, ladies and gentlement, my Aunt is a snorter. But they are tiny snorts, perfectly suited to her cheery personality. It's the sort of laugh snort that just makes the laughing that much more enjoyable. I'm actually laughing right now as I type this. You have one of the most contagious laughs on the planet.

You bring light into any room you enter. It is impossible to be in a bad mood around you. Alot of that has to do with your ability to see and enjoy every funny detail in life, bring it to light, and then laugh about it. The occassional micro-snort is the cherry on top.

We call my daughter "The Bad Day Eraser." No matter how bad your day was, all negative thoughts are erased when you get home to her. You are proof that being a bad day eraser is not a vocation reserved for children only.

Thanks for being you!
