It was a long evening in the studio last night... I had this idea for a set of placemats for a Christmas gift. Not any ordinary placemats, mind you; but mats with North American birds embroidered on them. Seems simple enough... look at the detail photo below w/ Cardinals. Twenty-one thread color changes... yes, 21! (And that was only one placemat!!)
Someone got very tired while "Mom" stitched; late into the night...

Those are beautiful placemats. You made all those in one evening!?!? I am making an afghan of birds, and I'm still working on it a couple of years later!
