Inventory Control, Or Lack Thereof...

I was cruising around the blogs I like to read the other day when I happened by Wendy's, she had posted a photo of the loveliest pin cushion that she had hand embroidered; it depicted a basket of strawberries and I was smitten with the design! I commented on her blog that I'd love to know the name of the designer and where I could find the pattern, she promptly E-mailed me a response and even suggested a likely place to check to find the book. I was on a mission to find this now, my head was swimming with ideas of where and how I could use such a pattern. I did an online search and found the book, "The Red Book" by Diane Arthurs. Hmmm... it looked suspiciously familiar. Did I already HAVE the book, was it possible? Yep, you guessed it! It was in a bin with my embroidery supplies and patterns, a long-ago gift from none other than Quiltkeemosabe! Is she just the bestest friend or what? She knows what I need even before I do! The pattern was quickly located within the book, it's so sweet, there are lots of others I can use, too; even more strawberries! This whole episode got me to thinking... what else do I have in inventory that I might not even remember? Well, let's not even go there, I'm happy with what I did find and I'm trying not to over-analyze my lack of control over inventory! I'm thankful to have enough projects to keep me busy for a lifetime and friends to point me in the right direction... what more could I possibly need?

Floss, that's it, I need embroidery floss...
...no, wait, I might already have some!
Life is Good!☺

I saw that posting too and had wondered where the pattern came from. I never would have guessed it came from that book and that I had already given it to you! Maybe I better check my stash, too to see what else is already in there! Who knows what all we already have!

Cute. Now get to work!

I have not succumbed (succambe?) to the redwork intrigue, but have been seriously tempted on more than one occasion. There is this wonderful Alice In Wonderland pattern . . . . .

I'm glad you found the pattern, and how wonderful that you didn't even have to pay for it, or wait for it to arrive in the mailbox!

But more floss . . . I have often thought it would be the height of indulgence to walk into a shop with a floss display and buy a skein of every color. A girl can dream, can't she *s*

Oh that was the cutest post ever...I love that book and look at it all the time. I've made the Sweet Dreams pillow for my 25 year old daughter (she loves it). You need floss??? I think I have enough for a life time...LOL. I use DMC 498 red.

Sounds like something I would do!

Floss you say? I own a minimum of one skein of every colour DMC have ever created! But I'll still buy more. LOL

I have found that I sometimes have 2 or three of a pattern or book. Harumph! Guess I must have really liked it, huh? Ok, here's something to post about: how to store embroidery floss without going out and buying something new for it.

I often look at books and think this looks good, only to find out I already have it. I think we should write all these titles down in an address book perhaps, to keep in our purse for when we are tempted to buy..?

Yes, friends are the best! I'll have to take a look in my cupboards too and see what I've forgotten. Happy stitching!

I have that Red Book and the Blue Book but they are put away in a safe place - it's even safe from me. I can't put my hands on them. GRRRRR
Enjoy!

Ok, you're talking to the woman who discovered while putting away some fabrics that I had bought the SAME piece of fabric -- not just once, not twice, but THREE times! I guess I like it or something -- but really, time to USE some of it!

I am so pleased you had that pattern, because I wanted to know what it was, too! Oh boy - now I'm going to see if I can find it! What a great book! Thanks so much for sharing!!

It is so nice to see people enjoying my designs in the "Red Book" and making comments about it. There is a Blue Book and a Green Book. There is also a Baby Boy and A Baby Girl Book that you may enjoy with 3-4 others. For info go to www.Imaginating.com for information and ordering.
Happy Stitching,
Diane Arthurs
