Impressions of Savannah

Our weekend in Savannah was splendid. This is the steeple from which a feather floated down to land at the feet of Forrest Gump in the 1994 movie, set in Savannah. Forrest's bus stop bench doesn't exist in Chippewa Square, that was a movie prop. This is the Independent Presbyterian Church on Bull St. We spent two days walking the streets and squares and exploring the homes and museums that this Georgia city has to offer. Live Oaks dripping with Spanish Moss, stately mansions, historic row houses and a lively river walk made each and every turn seem like a movie set. We learned that Savannah has gone through a dramatic rebuilding and reclamation over the past thirty years, rescuing the city from crime and gangs and restoring much of the former charm and glory is due in great part to the establishment of SCAD, Savannah College of Art and Design; and most recently a resurgence of interest in Savannah following the popularity of the book (and subsequent movie) Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Perfect weather, delicious food and lots to see and do in an attractive and revitalized city all added up to one fantastic weekend getaway!

Oh, just lovely! Another entry on my list of places to visit. It's so nice that you got away for your anniversary after the busy spring you've had. Very romantic! Now, you've also made me so very hungry....off to find some breakfast....

Savannah is truely one of the South's most fun, beautiful and historic cities. It is one of my favorite cities to visit. So glad you and DH got to enjoy it's beauty, and Happy Anniversary, too! (Outside Savannah there is a "Road" Racing track - known as Roebling Road - so we get there often)

Looks like you had a wonderful time. We'll be going in a couple of months for a wedding. Having never been to Savannah, we are looking forward to it.

I was so excited for ya'll. A lovely trip. I wanted to write yesterday but I couldn't decided upon a direction for my thoughts.

When I woke up thinking about the fish - still - I thought Savannah is great and all (2 hr drive) but that dern plate of food is what I'm after. Paired with just the right wine. I'm done for.

Sous Chef Love, *karendianne.
