Just Under The Wire

I don't think of myself as a procrastinator, but I am when it comes to the homework assignments of the Southern Album class. I finished these, just under the wire, as class is scheduled for 2 PM today! Blue Pineapples and Persistent Kudzu are the latest additions to my GBY* quilt. I had a terrible time with the gap spacing of the tips of these Pineapple leaves. Two of the tips are almost touching where the other three pairs have have their own unique space in-between. Arrggh. I took painstaking steps to prevent this from happening but finally, after ripping and re-ripping decided to leave (pun?) them alone before I was left with shaggy, thread-bare tips where the leaves had once been. The Persistent Kudzu block was an easy-breezy one, although I did devote way too much time to my color choices and realized, finally, I needed to commit to something and move forward. That's exactly what I did; sometimes the last minute is the best minute after all. Below are all the blocks, to date. The border, focus fabric, is pictured on the right; photos are "clickable".

Ok, next block use more blue! If you had not told all of space in pineapples, we would not have notice the space. You do such pretty work.

So fun, fun, funnn to read about your process. Thank you for sharing, even the unfun parts.

Your work is brimming with charm and beauty. It really is exquisite.

Seeing all the blocks together, well, I was somewhat surprised to see which block was my favorite. I'm in love already.

Absolutely exquisite work you're doing.... I, too, have a favorite amongst this group (not telling which just yet).

The pondering process takes me the longest, too -- once I actually start, it goes much more quickly.

There beautiful....just beautiful! I truly agree with you about being under the wire under the last minute. College papers, getting the dishes done BEFORE the commercial runs out..lol.

Your work is wonderful Mrs. Goodneedle! I really enjoy dropping by and seeing what your working on.
Have a great day!

These are lovely, as is most applique. I need to slow down and take the time to applique again. Maybe someday soon. *sigh*

Beautiful blocks! I looked at the pictures before I read your blog. If you wouldn't have said anything about spaces and not spaces I'll bet no one would have noticed.

Your blocks look wonderful. Having just finished my own pineapple block, I feel your pain. But...done is done and I am thankful for it!

It is so great to see these blocks with some real color and not so muted.
Beautiful stitches.

It looks great!! And I agree with the others...I never would have noticed the spacing. But I understand your frustration and I know how much time all of that hnd work takes. Can't wait to see it all sewn together!

What gorgeous blocks, each and every one. I enjoy reading of your progress (or not!). Sometimes it is better to do something at the last minute - I do some of my best work that way!
