For Inspiration...

... I only needed to drive thirty miles west on Friday. A two day event, held at the Statesville Civic Center, the "Quilting and Needle Art Extravaganza" was definitely the place to be! Twenty-seven vendors were set up and ready for a throng of customers when the doors opened at eleven on Friday morning. I wasn't inside at that time; but was, instead, circling the block (over and over) searching for a place to park! I only bought one thing, a nifty tool/ruler/template to turn both fabric and batting scraps into finished quilts. It will really come in handy and I plan to put it to good use when I'm on retreat later this month. My lean shopping bag was most definitely the exception, almost everyone I saw had their wallets out! This photo was snapped during a lull in attendance, this place was crammed full of shoppers most of the day. This was the first event of it's kind in this location. The event planners listened to a voice much like that in Field Of Dreams~ "if you build it they (quilters) will come", they were quite happily surprised by the large turnout. There are only a few things that I'll skip 'house cleaning day' for, without a doubt this was one of them!

Events like this are usually so fun. The parking problems tend to be the usual glitch if it's in an older building that was before most places come with parking lots. I love it when the distance is minimal for I'm not a great traveler.

Events like that are always great to attend. Even if you don't buy much it is still nice to see what's new and what people are doing. A bit of eye candy make for a nice day.

Could not believe my eyes when I turned around and there was Mrs. Goodneedle! It was a fun time for all, even if it was hard to move around. Laura

I had thought about going....but then son came home from college for the weekend. I hope there will be more events like this one. I'm anxious to hear from our guild members here in Asheboro that went and SPENT.

Just a ruler! It was a fun time. We are blessed to have so many quilts shop here in NC.

I thought of you today.....on a tour of Topsfield, I discovered there's a Bernina store right next to wear Center Supermarket used to be. I was so suprised. And my old house is up for sale and has vinyl siding and french doors off the dining room!

Oh I had some friends that went there - I looked real hard at your picture and did not see them there - imagine that! They said it was great fun though.

Joy to the day! As for the new tool, I have tons of scraps and never do anything with them so you'd THINK I'd understand how to use this. BUT, I don't! My brain is stretched...

Loved the Featherweight guy...I got new latches for my case. It was still humming Saturday late afternoon when I took a break from piecing to check it out.
