Grandmommy's Gift
This is my son-in-law, with part of his birthday gift. Four and a half years ago his dear Grandmommy made a quilt top for him and our daughter as a Christmas gift. This is that top, quilted, Sundance and I finished it and re-presented it yesterday. He is thrilled to have it done, and will enjoy using it. This is the front side of the quilt I showed earlier this week, the pattern is "London Roads". His precious Grandmommy will celebrate her 90th birthday soon, the family is planning a party to commemorate the occasion and will display some of her many quilts, I believe this one will be included in her one-woman show. (I can only dream of such a fitting tribute one day!) When I was loading this top onto Sundance I found this little "reminder" inside one of the seam allowances. I'm certain it was a notation, for her, of who this quilt was being made for. Back then, Christmas 2004, she made tops for all of her eight grandchildren and she was most likely keeping track; what a treasure I discovered inside that hand-pieced block! I am including this "notation" photo on the label with all the other pertinent information, for posterity; after all, this quilt links both families and generations!

What a treasure.
Wow!
Grandmommy sounds like a wonderfully giving and caring woman. The celebration of her 90th birthday will be a wonderful time for all, I'm sure.
Enjoy.

Great quilt. I would be smiling to get that quilt also.
How wonderful for you to have quilted that quilt and what a wonderful treasure for your son in law to have. The marking on the seam is just priceless and how thougtful of you to take a picture to include as part of the gift. That sweetie pie grandson of yours is just precious!!! Our baby guys are sure growing fast.
This is so special and with the label it's even more so. I can only imagine how wonderful her 90th birthday will be. I have chills just thinking about it. There is an awful lot of love floating around The Strawberry Patch and it's so contagious. What a great Sunday Share!
...good thing you included a photo of the CG in the W, too. I for one might have realized (slowly) and started and uprising!
