One Down, One To Go

I pieced two Picture Play quilts late last year. The first one, "Bears At The Beach" is done, I just completed the quilting and binding and will be mailing it off to a very special little boy that I know. I hope he will be happy when snuggling under it, love the game of discovering and learning words and colors from the pictures, and delight in the magic of the glow-in-the-dark quilting thread long after the lights go out at bedtime. A second, similar, quilt is being loaded onto Sundance today and will be delivered to my great niece later on this summer. These quilts are among my very favorite to make. As many of these as I stitch together you'd think that would make a dent in my novelty bins, wouldn't you? For some mysterious reason it doesn't work that way, the bins remain full to overflowing with 2, 3 and 4 inch squares!

Looks wonderful! I love the idea of glow in the dark thread. I guess I am out of the loop because I didn't know it was available. Now you have me thinking! :-) Have a great day with Sundance!

Well if the bin is overloading I'm wondering things... ;) I crawled up and out. A good sign. I just think maybe that quilt is the cutest little quilt I've seen in a long time. Of course, it would be appropriate to see more since the bin is, what was it you said, overflowing!

Working on recovery because you said Life is Good!

I can remember studying the fabrics in a quilt when it was nap time or I was under the weather. These picture play quilts will offer all kinds of studying time.

I don't seem to have many novelty prints anymore. Those that are still around have been cut into strings for string quilts. I suppose that still works well for a child for discovery purposes.

Glow in the dark thread! WOW! Where did you find that. I bet that is so much fun for your little one. The piecing and colors are wonderful!

Looks like a fun quilt. I started what I called my "alphabet" quilt where I made a block with each letter and then attached smaller squares with novelty fabric squares that had things that started with that letter. My daughter took the squares and is going to make the quilt, so much fun to play I Spy with.

What a wonderful fun quilt! I've never had novelty fabrics though if and when grandchildren are in the near future I'd love to make something like this!
