One Year Later

"Sunflower Love" is complete, at long last! The quilting has been done on this one for a long time, but the piping, binding, hanging sleeve and label all added to the amount of time needed for finishing. I don't know what the hold up was, but suddenly I realized the first wedding anniversary of our son and dear daughter-in-law was looming and that became the perfect target date to shoot for; I hit a bull's eye, one year later! This photo was snapped right after they pulled the quilt out of the gift bag last evening; it is such a great tribute to them, bearing the signatures, sentiments and well-wishes of their wedding guests. I hope they love it forever and consider it worth the wait, it's a timeless treasure. (Not only did I get this project off my plate, but I gained freezer space as well, along with their quilt they took the top layer of their wedding cake home with them... a win-win!!)

Well, they look extremely happy under their new quilt! I am sure they will share many happy hours together under that magnificant quilt! I love sunflowers!

Our two youngest got married three weeks apart, so the first couple received their wedding quilt on time. The couple that got married three weeks later had to wait for a year and two months. They didn't seem to mind!

Your idea of having it be a signature quilt is brilliant. It adds so much to the value of the quilt. Congratulations!

Perfect timing. It is a lovely quilt. Sweet picture of the 1 year old couple too.

You do have impeccable timing *s* And it's easy to see by their happy faces that the gift will be well loved.

It is just lovely! So many of us think "I should do this for a young couple" but we never get around to planning let alone getting a quilt all put together. This will be a treasure not just for Kyle and his beautiful bride but also for their children and their children's children! A gift for generations!

Now that's a much better present than paper for a first anniversary, absolutely. Beautiful quilt and lovely couple.

It's beautiful! I just got mine back from LTW today so on to the binding. Their first anniversary is June 14th so I am aiming for that date!

really, really cool ... when you first posted about a signature quilt for your son's wedding, i showed it to my oldest daughter (who was engaged at the time) and she asked if i would make one for her wedding (with dragonflies instead of sunflowers) ... when i posted about "wedding wishes on dragonfly's wing" i linked back to your blog post - it would not exist without that bit of inspiration ... so ... thank you

It is so gorgeous! Wonderful work, and it will be around 50 years from now. A neighbor shared the quilt on her bed with me...65 years old, given to her on her wedding day. She treasures it still.
