Hittin' The Road?

It's the holiday weekend, are you hittin' the road? Many folks will be, and Sundance and I are no exception! However, we won't need to leave the comfort of the studio for our journey. We're hittin' a fabric road course and laying down stitches instead of rubber. We should make quick work of our road trip and we won't be using a drop of gas either. We're quilting a play mat for my favorite almost two-year-old to drive his little cars and trucks over, I think he'll like it. I'm confident that Sundance won't have a bit of trouble navigating these tight curves and hairpin turns, she handles well, it's the oncoming traffic that we'll need to watch out for... beep-beep! Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th to you. Staying home too. Your little gs is going to have fun taking his own trips.

This reminds me of a gift my grandmother made us when we were little. A whole town with roads and houses and driveways drawn on heavy interfacing like material, outlined with different colors of fabric paint. We played with that endlessly, choosing our favorite houses and driving to town to the store and post office. Fun!

Oh, he will just love to play on the quilt! I made a quilt for my nephews that had trains and cars and they loved it. I can't wait to see it quilted!

How wonderful is this idea, Mason will truly love it! I am guessing certain others in your family will be on the floor with Mason, driving their little cars here and there :>)!! Creating wonderful times together and memories to cherish! Have a relaxing and fun Independence Day!

we've been debating getting G one of the carpets that look like this, but if we don't, I think you might need to make another one of these! i'm sure G will be playing with cars and trucks before he can hold his head up! :)
