Miss Alaynee, Revisited

I'm revisiting an old friend, "Miss Alaynee", she has been living (in bits and pieces, strips and units) in my stash closet for years. Her name is an adaptation of the word "miscellany", defining a collection of unrelated items, her name describes her perfectly. At this stage I am beginning to audition lighter squares for an inner border, this will be followed by a second border comprised of smaller medium to dark four patches. She will remain on the design wall until she becomes a full-fledged flimsy and then she will take her place, along with the others, in the "to be quilted" queue. This quilt is from a pattern, "Homecoming", by Judy Martin and can be found in her book: Cookies 'n Quilts.

As children of God aren't we all a little bit like Miss Alaynee? Our maker continues to form a glorious composition from those bits and pieces, strips and units; our family, relationships and life experiences, and proudly presents each one of us anew as a completely unique whole for the purpose of reflecting His light and love? I delight in being God's ongoing work in progress!

After a busy weekend full of family, fun and food sometimes a girl just needs to count her blessings by sitting, sewing... and reflecting! At least this girl does, it's fuel for the soul and the tank needs a refill.

Excellent Word this morning, Mrs. G, straight outa Eph. 2:10 -- we are his workmanship, sometimes translated as POEM! A stunning work of art, very much like Miss Alaynee!
Blessings!!!

Yes I too delight in being God's work in progress...how great that He doesn't give up on us and push us to the back of the 'jobs to finish' cupboard like I often do with my projects! Your quilt is beuatiful and I look forward to seeing it finished

Thank you for those words. I've always felt that sewing and ironing were perfect times for reflecting, listening, praying.
Don't you think there's a sermon to be found in every quilt! Reflecting, listening, praying, sewing. They go together.
