Christmas Chocolate

When we lived in Switzerland we could buy Christmas Chocolate at this time of year. These milk chocolate bars, by Lindt, were deliciously mixed with cinnamon and coriander and quickly became a family favorite. I cannot find them here, maybe the Swiss know that they are just too yummy for export! We left Europe and moved back to the U.S. in the summer of 1999, I had forgotten all about this seasonal treat until my daughter reminded me about Christmas Chocolate the other day. I suggested to her that maybe it just seems more delicious in the remembering because we can't find it now, but she assures me that is not the case! Her own sweet memory has prompted her to create a cookie with these flavors, she's experimenting with recipes this weekend. I can't wait to hear about (and taste) the results!

I was just thinking about this particular chocolate yesterday! Oh how I miss it! Many, many years ago you could occasionally find it in the states. How I'd love to have a piece right now!

Have you tried World Market? I dont know if they have this in particular but they seem to carry candy from all over the world. I found some German chocolate I loved when I was in Munich.

Gosh you would think with the internet nothing is out of reach. Hope the cookies turn out (then she can share the recipe with us) Go Postal would love this combination too.

You're so right about the taste of this. Living in Germany, we look forward to the arrival of this Christmas chocolate in the shops. Like the Christmas Tea, it is full of all the smells and tastes of traditional Christmas. Am drinking the tea now! Next year, I will ask you for an address and will send you some...

Oh, I had forgotten about this ! I lived in mainland Europe for so many years, I might have to go in search of some in Aldi or Liddl to see if I can get any :) Such memories :) Hope the experiments turn out well :)

Lindt is now making truffles flavored with cinnamon and coriander. I bought some last week at their outlet store here in New Hampshire. I'd never tasted that combination with chocolate before and they are wonderful!
