Tell Me Why...

... I am addicted to this show. For the life of me I do not know why; but, rest assured, I never miss an episode on Friday nights! I'm drawn... like a moth to a flame, with similar life endangering consequences. Watching this show drains me, I feel bad all day on Saturday thinking about the sad and tragic tale reported the night before. This show bothers me and affects me, much like "Snapped" (another one I tune in to watch with regularity on the Oxygen network). I love happy endings, and stories where the human spirit triumphs over adversity. These shows demonstrate neither of those attributes. This is my own personal conundrum, if you can tell me why I watch these shows I'd love the input. In the meantime, if it's Friday night, you know where I'll be.

Life is Good!

one way to stop watching snapped is for your cable company to take the channel away (you will not have that problem)

one way to stop watching dateline is to fall asleep from pure exhaustion at like 6:30.

if neither of those work for you, then watch on, i love them both too! i sure do miss snapped, and i'm thankful for dateline marathons that come on ever once and a while....oh and i sure did LOVE to catch a predator!

I think they cover the topics that we know so little about in our own personal lives. When we watch, we broaden our knowledge of how life really is to some people without having to live it. I call it curiosity. Judy C

Your gnome is darling and what a treasure of a gift it was. I don't watch Dateline for the very reasons you stated - just too depressing. My husband turns on FOX news instead and we get even more depressed! haha

We loved watching Snapped! It always amazes us at how greedy, spiteful, or just down-right evil people can be to someone they used to love!?! We're always shocked by it!

Of course, my hubby's favorite comment is always...."Oh oh...I better behave, you're watching Snapped again, and taking notes!!" HA!

Here's my bet. There's nothing else on TV Friday night. We all love Ann Curry and so we watch, knowing that the local news will come on ultimately with the weather report. Let me suggest Netflix for musicals on Friday night...The Music Man, Hello Dolly, Mary Poppins, Chicago...

I'm addicted to news programs myself. I think it makes me feel connected to the rest of the human race (I'd like to think this makes me a better person than someone who's world ends 10 feet from their face!). It can sometimes make you feel like the sky is falling though. I take regular "news fasts" when I start to feel hopeless and try to only listen when I feel a bit tougher!
