Are you looking for something to celebrate today? If so, you're in luck. Today, August 6th, just happens to be national Root Beer Float (Brown Cow) Day! Thanks to my good friend, OH Quilter, for pointing this out to me. It's also national mustard day today; looks like I'll be having a hot dog with that beverage! What a tasty way to celebrate summer~
Cheers!

There used to be a candy bar on a stick called a "Brown Cow". It was a filling puller for sure!
Be still my heart. Haven't had one in YEARS. Mooo.
I guess threr is a day for everything :-) Fun!
My father, a pharmacist, did his "internship" in a drug store with a soda fountain back in the 30's. He never lost his skill with the seltzer, flavorings and ice cream. One of my fondest memories of my dad was his concocting ice cream sodas, or a treat called a New York Egg Cream on hot Sunday afternoons. Thanks for jarring that memory from the recesses of my brain!!! I'll be picking up some rootbeer and ice cream at the store today.
Hey Paula: they still have them; they are called "cow tails", and they still pull fillings!
Sounds like a perfect summer supper on the deck, a hot dog with mustard, of course, and a root beer float (my oldest grandson's favorite treat). Thanks for the heads-up!
Think I will be making a trip to the grocery store for the parts .... after all it only comes once a year!
It sounds refreshing....
So glad to have found your blog...I am from NC as well.....and I am your newest member....
Your quilts are beautiful....I am just getting back into quilted wall hangings after having been drawn to other arts forms......
I haven't had a root beer float in many moons--but often have a diet A&W rootbeer as a sweet treat after dinner.
