"If This Is You..."
...that's the way the phone message began. It was from someone I worked with, a lifetime ago! I began working for The Singer Co. in 1973 in Lafayette, IN. I was employed there until I moved away, to get married, two years later. Susan and I met and became instant friends on that very first day, she was the bookkeeper for our store. We kept up for a while, after I was gone, she and her family visited us briefly in 1977; but I hadn't seen her since. Busy lives, with children, took over and we simply lost touch with each other. She just so happened to be in town this week for a convention and found our phone number. We hastily planned a dinner out together and picked right up where we left off, thirty four years ago! We've exchanged contact info and vowed to stay in touch, it's easier now with e-mail. She told me that she took a chance looking through the phone book and calling what she hoped was the right number; it certainly was, and I am so VERY grateful that she did!

Talk about a blast from the past! How fun!!
That's very cool!! And lucky your number was even in the phone book. ;-) Fewer and fewer numbers are. Looks like you had a great catch-up dinner. :-)
And you probably didn't look a day older than the last time she saw you!
Wonderful story and great to re-kindle that old friedship. Judy C
Must be the week ... I got an e-mail that started "Is that YOU, Julie >>>>>[maiden name]>>>>>?!?!?!?!? It was from my h.s. best friend, who married shortly thereafter and moved to Montana. She found my blog while surfing the web and took a chance with that e-mail. Good things CAN happen!!!
Best of luck keeping up with your newly-found-again friend!
Wow, that leaves me speechless. Just Wow!!!
Fun!
I'm sure you had a great time! And I guess there is a good reason to hang on to that land line and stay in the phone book!
What a wonderful story!!!! I love happy reunions like this! Thanks for sharing.
Terrific fun! Glad she took the chance and made the call. My maiden name is unusual and my brother still has his # in the phone book so he gets calls occasionally--though we have never left this town!
What a wonderful surprise......I love reconnecting with long lost pals. A couple of months ago, a friend I hadn't seen in years called and wanted to get together. It's funny how with some people, it feels like a day hasn't past since you last saw each other....
I hope you have a wonderful weekend....
